“A message from LGO Hospitality
After 15 years in the downtown Santa Monica Clock Tower building, LGO Hospitality has made
the painful decision to not extend its lease in that location for The Misfit. The Misfit will be
closing at the end of the evening on Saturday, April 18th.
Since its doors opened in 2011, The Misfit has been one of the busiest and local cornerstones
near the 3rd Street Promenade. The Art Deco restaurant and bar exploded in popularity after
posting a staff recruiting video (https://youtu.be/ZBgndkgXUpk) as its only form of publicity
or advertising. We are very proud of our employees and management who have dedicated
themselves to providing an enjoyable and healthy dining experience for our guests, whose
support has made all of the difference over the years.
Unfortunately, a revolving door of five building ownership entities, with their ever-declining
commitment to preserve and build upon The Misfit’s years of success, squandered the value
that we built together with you, our guests. Combined with the impacts from ownership’s
abandonment, the chronic conditions plaguing Downtown Santa Monica undermine our
delivery of a positive experience at the high standards that we have long set and which our
loyal customers expect.
LGO Hospitality founder and CEO Bob Lynn commented:
“The focus now is building on the excitement and energy for our newest places - Diner
Antonette & La Grande Orange Grocery (between 12th and 13th Street on Wilshire Boulevard
in Santa Monica). We just opened for brunch and will be serving lunch during the week
imminently. Dinner is served seven nights a week. The same famous top shelf Misfit Happy
Hour is in full force at Diner Antonette.
My wife Sara & I live blocks away and are very excited about all of the new development and
renewal up and down the WILSHIRE WEST corridor. The area is fertile ground for small
businesses and provides great accessibility for the local community and for our staff.”
LGO Hospitality is also actively working on a new home for the restaurant in another area of
the city.”
One of the most famous Santa Monica restaurants, The Misfit, is the epitome of timeless hipness. Housed in the ground floor of the iconic Clock Tower Building, the restaurant’s two-story height locale is mere blocks from the beach, meeting the corner of the pulsating Third Street Promenade on Santa Monica Boulevard.
